Ceramic Anilox By Apex

Apex offers laser engraved anilox rolls in three qualities: CO2, ULTRACELL et ULTRACELL PLUS.

Apex' new revolutionary plasma spray coater is the most technologically advanced coating system in the industry today. This technology has been developed in conjunction with / especially for Apex. It is a completely computerized production process resulting in a homogenous and compact ceramic layer of unequalled purity. This produced a ceramic coated roller with less than 1% porosity without the use of commonly used sealers.

Along side the coating technology Apex has developed the innovative Ultra MeltTM engraving technology, this process uniquely controls the laser, which results in a smooth hardened inner cell. By combining the latest coating technology with the innovative Ultra MeltTM engraving process Apex can offer an advanced anilox roller resulting in a reduced chance on deep score lines, a longer lifetime and superior cleaning characteristics. The anilox rolls have a high surface tension giving non-wetting (hydrophobic) characteristics and therefore have excellent ink release capabilities. Chances on drying or clogging of ink in the cells are small

Advantages of low porosity of the ceramic coating and a high surface tension (non-wetting)

  • Equal surface tension over the complete width of the anilox roll, lasting the entire lifetime of the roll
  • Superior ink release capabilities
  • Homogenous ink metering and transfer to the printing plate
  • Maximum resistant against corrosive cleaning liquids

Ultra MeltTM technology
All types laser engraved anilox rolls are produced with the Ultra MeltTM technology. Features of ULTRACELL and ULTRACELL PLUS quality.

  • Perfect cell structure for optimal ink release
  • Improved ink refreshment in the cells
  • Increased ink transfer resulting in stronger color density
  • Reduced chance on score lines
  • Easier to clean
  • Increased lifetime of doctor blades
  • Resistant to corrosive cleaning liquids
  • Higher screen available up to 1000 lines/cm
  • Longer lifetime of roller

Coating
Due to the Ultra MeltTM Technology, Apex is able to produce extremely smooth and equal rolls surface suitable for the coating industry, with screens varying between 7 and 500 lines/cm.
Computer-to-plate
ULTRACELL et ULTRACELL PLUS anilox rolls are suitable for high screen patterns. Both qualities meet the requirements of (Direct-) Computer-To-Plate technique (DCTP or CTP) and can handle the finer lines and low dot gain of (D)CTP-produced plates. Due to an improved cell shape and higher cell volume anilox screens up to 1000 lines/cm are technically possible. In many cases an offset printing quality is within reach of flexo printers.

Anilox Sleeves - UltraLight & UltraLight Plus

UltraLight
The demand for wider print widths are increasing that require sleeves with lengths over 1700 mm. The conventional aluminum body construction contributes to the heaviness of sleeves.

The new generation UltraLight sleeves have a special construction plastic sleeve base, which saves approximately 20% on the weight of the sleeve body. Moreover, the vulnerability and the lack of shock resistance of aluminum and its tendency to react easily when aggressive cleaning liquids are used, have been addressed by the UltraLight sleeves. Because of the good stitch of the ceramics directly onto the plastic layer, the sleeves are well protected from damages.

UltraLight Plus.

One of the most An additional development of this already revolutionary technology led to the invention of the UltraLight Plus sleeves. For the construction of these new sleeves only 150 microns of ceramics is blasted directly onto a plastic sleeve base of only 3 mm thick. Compared to conventional sleeves, the new technology UltraLight Plus yields a phenomenal savings of over 80%.
